423pp. sm8vo. Red cloth with the title stamped in red within a gilt panel at the top of the front cover. The panel is framed within a border of vertical gilt rulings giltstamped scrolling vines & flowers. Gilt-lettered spine. Kathleen Thompson Norris (1880 - 1966), whose style owed much to Henry James, wrote some 80 feminine & matriarchal sentimentalist novels in the 1910s and 1920s. Her themes dominated the radio soap operas of early radio, and she was reputed to be the highest paid American writer of her day. Front hinge cracked, but holding well; gilt on spine very faded; 2 small spots on the front cover o/w Very Good, i.e. shows careful use, but no significant defects). No dustjacket.
