232pp. sm8vo. Red cloth with title, author & 'Cameo Classics' in gilt & an embossed white cameo of Johann Gutenberg on the front cover. The spine lists the actual contents 'Pirates of Penzance, Pinafore, Mikado, Bab Ballads' & 'Cameo Classics' in gilt lettering; and is also decorated in gilt using a repeated ivy motif with rulings & dots. Top edge black. The subtitled (The Best Known Works of W. S. Gilbert) better describes the contents. B/w frontispiece is an early Gilbert & Sullivan program. Text illustrations throughout by W. S. Gilbert signed 'Bab', the pen-name under which he drew sketches to illustrate his works ('Bab' was Gilbert's pet name as a baby). A previous owner's stamp on both endpapers, very light band of fading at top of cover just above the title, spine just a little dull with the top ivy device mostly missing its gilt o/w Very Good, i.e. signs of careful use with no significant defects. No dustjacket.
