Dark blue cloth with the front bearing the title in gilt Letters & decorated with a string of red rosary beads draped around a red Maltese Cross & over a silver crescent moon (with a silver star above) ending with a blindstamped crucifix hanging from the end. Gilt-lettered spines. Endpapers are laid paper. Dedication following the title page (missing in the 1st issue) is present. Both volumes have the spine extremes & corners rubbed; a previous owner's name inked in period handwriting on the title page; some foxing on the endpapers & occasional foxing throughout the text; & tanned page edges. Volume 1: front hinge is just starting, but holding well & barely noticeable; a few tiny chips in the silver of the moon o/w Very Good, i.e. signs of careful use with no significant defects. Volume 2: front hinge started, but holding well; 2 short wrinkles in the cloth in the area of the crucifix & some scattered scuffs on the front cover o/w Good, i.e. obvious signs of use with no major defects.
