William Scott Thomas (1845 - 1924), a Democrat, was a mining engineer who became a millionaire through his investments in coal mines and the development of other mineral and metal resources in several states. He resided in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and later in NYC. Although very active in Pennsylvania politics, no information could be found regarding when he ran, nor if it was a primary or general election. He appears in every census from 1850 thru 1920 where additional information can be found.
