1 ..... Print: 'THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD'.
James Lee [Chicago, IL]. (1911).
Chromolithograph. 11 5/8' x 15 3/4'. Image of Jesus holding a lamb and a staff amid sheep. Lower left corner has 'The Lord is My Shepherd' in large ornate orange Letters outlined in yellow. Marked only 'Copyright 1911 By James Lee, Chicago, Ill.' Print is mounted on acid-free board covered by ordinary cardboard. The artist responsible for this work is unknown; however, it predates and is almost identical to Alton Tobey's (1914 - 2005) later painting commissioned by The Franklin Mint except his reverses the colors in Jesus' robes, adds more detail in the far background and near foreground, eliminates the black sheep and the halo around Jesus' head. Another version, also later and by an unknown artist, shows Jesus in a white robe along with other changes. James Lee's prints were very popular during the early 20th C. The little known about him can be gleaned from census records, which show that he was born in England and in 1892 he emigrated to the U.S. from Canada, where he had been a wholesale grocer. He was not listed in the 1900 U.S. census, but in 1910 he lived in La Grange, Cook Co., IL with his wife Georgia and two children. James listed himself as President of a picture & post cards business, while the son was listed as a director of the same business. The 1920 census places the family in Lyons, Cook Co. He lists his occupation as picture frames. By 1930, Georgia is listed as a widow living with son James in Lyons where he is the Vice President of a novelty company. The print has areas of very faint creasing noticeable only on close inspection o/w Fine. The gold-painted, wooden frame has moderate signs of use due to scuffs & scratches. 3 Davis, Arthur Alfred. Print: 'IN FULL CRY'.
Publisher unknown. No date.
Color photolithograph. Framed calendar top. 12' x 10' h. print with 11' x 8' image. Signed 'Arthur A. Davis 1894' with printed title ('Game To The Last') at the bottom center of the image. The original painting was titled In Full Cry. The title on the print was not the title of the original painting. Arthur Alfred Davis was a British painter active between 1877 & 1905 and known best for his foxhunting scenes. 11 1/2' x 13 1/2' x 1' wide wooden frame with ornate, gilt-painted, molded gesso. The print is protected with an acid-free backing board over which is an old one-piece wood backboard. The Glass is old as evidenced by scattered tiny bubbles. Print is Fine (No defects). The gesso on the edge of upper right corner of the frame is chipped, a 1/4' x 1/8' edge chip in the gesso on the left side of the top of the frame o/w Very Good (minor signs of careful use with no significant defects). The contents of the frame were originally secured with nails holding the wooden backboard, but insertion of the acid-free mat raised the backboard above the back of the frame. This necessitated holding the contents with metal mending plates. See PHOTO. Note: Please email regarding shipping costs prior to ordering.

Life Publishing Company [New York]. 1906. (1905: Dodd, Mead & Co.).
8 1/2' x 11' framed photolithographic tear sheet. Young woman reading to a young man in a sickbed. Other side of print has another illustration (unsigned) titled 'The Sparker' also by Hutt, and marked 'Copyright, 1906, by Life Publishing Co'. I am presuming the tear sheet was from an issue of 'Life Magazine' (1883 - 1936), which had this format and used Hutt extensively. Both illustrations are in Fine condition on quality paper with non-original, acid-free matt & backboard. The vintage oak frame is 1 1/2' wide & in excellent condition. See PHOTO.
