Part IV: INDIANA TRAGEDY, the author's short story of the life of Alexander McKitrick, a Revolutionary War Sgt. of cannoneers, whose voluntary return to battle service left evidence upon which a new version is added to the varying accounts of the bombardment of Fort McHenry by the British in 1814. The life story derives its title from the tragic consequences of his 1822 settlement as a land speculator in Indiana. Part V: THE APPENDIX, Contains Bibliography, Name Index, abstracts of early Scottish court records, American court records & an index key to McKitrick names mentioned in Chalkley's Chronicles of the Scotch-Irish Settlement in Virginia.
