Revised Edition. 726pp. Tall 8vo. Mustard-colored cloth decorated on both covers & spine in gilt & black. The top of the covers have a row of black stars within triple-ruled black lines at the top & double-rulings in black at the bottom. Below is a panel decorated with flowers & leaves in black & triple-ruled with black lines at its bottom. A gilt panel with 'The Presidents' in black print lies below this followed by a large center panel with leaf-clusters, an American flag shield, 'Of The', & small nautilus-like decorative device. The bottom of the covers repeat the panels at the top except the gilt panel has 'United States' & the band of stars is replaced by a band of dots with 'Illustrated' in the center. The spine repeats the above pattern except the full title & the authors' names are in gilt. Frontispiece + 7 other steel engraved, tissue-guarded plates & 50 wood-cuts. 'Sold Only By Distributing Agents'. This is last revised edition issued to cover the first administration of Grover Cleveland (1885-1889). Front cover shows some wear & is lightly soiled; back cover heavily worn with all black & gilt missing; spine is lightly soiled & worn with its extremes worn; corners bumped; top edge dusty o/w Very Good, i.e. signs of careful use with no significant defects. About 45% of the book is devoted to 'Harrisburg At Present' with liberal mention of many names, businesses, churches, institutions, & other organizations including those identified as 'Colored'. Rebinding includes both free endpapers; the original leaves begin with the blank leaf before the title page & end with the leaf containing the bookbinder's (recto) & the printer's (verso) advertisements. The printer was Theodore F. Scheffer & the binder George A. Brooks, both of Harrisburg. The cloth is worn to the boards along 1 1/2' of the right edge of the front cover starting in the upper right corner; gilt-lettering on the spine a little worn; the front blank page (probably the flyleaf) has a previous owner's name inscribed in ink (Henry Shoop with the date December, 12, 1858) & a presentation 'Mabel F. Wright/ Her Book - June 1926/ From Miss Agnes Felix'; scattered foxing throughout with most pages tanned; occasional very minimal spots of soil, pencil checks, & small notes.
